Welcome
"So different yet so similar" is a Comenius 1 project that has six schools as partners :
- Fgura Primary A, Malta
- Forest of Teesdale ,UK
- Gadinita Nr5 ,Sibiu, Romania
- Publiczne Przedszkole Nr 2, Pawlowicach, Pawlowice, Poland
- Duisburg, Germany
- CEIP Puerto Rico, Canary Islands
Each school is represented by a mascot which are:
- Finu, the Dolphin, Malta
- Matt, the shepherd dog, UK
- Tinu, the Carpatian Stag, Romania
- Kitka, the squirrel, Poland
- Sandy, the squirrel with the bushy tail, Germany
- Canario, the canary, Canary Islands
Each school keeps a diary of its mascot to give to all the partner schools.
In the first year the diary was called "School, Our Second Home" and the mascot records the activities done on a normal school day. This way the children will compare and talk about the time spent at school, their stories and nursery rhymes, their games and the new things they learn. Special schooldays and activities are recorded too.
"Fun during Our Holidays" is the theme of the second year. Some holidays are common to partner schools, Christmas, Easter and Summer Holidays. Others are national and traditional. The children are made aware of the different ways people celebrate. Greetings in different languages are exchanged.
Finally we will explore the theme "Different Countries, One Europe". The mascot will be a tourist and explore his immediate environment. The change in the natural environment related to the four seasons will be the focus of discussion.
